Toulouse-Blagnac Airport : passenger traffic increased 5.4% in April

Traffic at Toulouse-Blagnac airport grew 5.4% in April, reaching a total of 851,285 passengers. Record passenger numbers were reached on Friday April 13th, with 34,697 passengers handled. Business was nonetheless disrupted by the cancellation of numerous flights, owing to the air transport strikes. While domestic traffic is slightly down (-1.2%), international traffic is up 11.9%, accounting for 53.3% of the total traffic. The market share of low-cost flights claimed 45.9% of the traffic.

Domestic traffic: 395,217 passengers (-1.2%).

Traffic to Paris is in decline (-4.6%) in particular to Paris-CDG (-9.3%, 71,107 passengers) while Paris-Orly is only down 2.7% (193,752 passengers).

Regionally, traffic maintained good growth (+6.6%, 130,358 passengers) with positive results for the majority of destinations.

The most significant growth concerns Caen (+168.0%, 3,865 passengers), Brest (+91.5%, 3,039 passengers) and Nantes (+33.8%, 26,761 passengers).


International traffic: 451,325 passengers (+11.9%).

The Schengen area accounts for 66.9% of this traffic, with growth of 15.5% and 301,946 passengers. Madrid is the leader in this segment with an increase of 26.3% and 42,244 passengers. The destinations that saw the strongest growth were Prague (+126.2%, 3,362 passengers), Naples (+123.1%, 3,777 passengers) and Seville (+61.7%, 6,432 passengers).

Outside the Schengen area (+2.4%, 95,867 passengers), London is the principal destination (+0.1%) with 69,273 passengers split among 4 airports: London-Gatwick (-1.1%, 24,073 passengers), London- Heathrow (-6.1%, 21,772 passengers), London-Stansted (+15.8%, 17,461 passengers) and London-Luton (-9.8%, 5,967 passengers).

Traffic to North Africa is growing (+3.6%), with contrasting results for Morocco (+8.0%, 20,109 passengers), Tunisia (+20.6%, 9,002 passengers) and Algeria (-8.8%, 15,278 passengers).

Charter traffic accounts for 1.7% of the international total, with 7,582 passengers.



Freight and postal traffic is down (-31%), with 4,521 tonnes handled.



The number of movements is down (-3.4%), with 7,463 movements recorded. The average passenger load per flight increased (122 passengers) compared to that of April 2017 (113 passengers).
