Traffic at the Toulouse Blagnac Airport increased by 4.7% in September with 870,183 passengers recorded. Domestic traffic, up by 3% compared with September 2017, represented 48.3% of traffic; international traffic (+6.2%) accounted for 51.7% of total traffic. The market share of low-cost flights claimed 42.7% of the local traffic with 369,033 passengers.
PASSENGERS
Domestic traffic: 417,339 passengers (+3%)
Traffic to the capital increased (+1.5 %), due to the Paris-Orly route (+3.1%, 196,380 passengers), which offset the decline in traffic to Paris-CDG (-2.4%, 75,452 passengers).
Regionally, traffic maintained good growth (+5.9%, 145,507 passengers) with positive results for the majority of destinations.
The destinations that recorded the strongest growth were Caen (+117.8%, 3,703 passengers), Rennes (+29%, 8,581 passengers) and Brest (+12.3%, 2,165 passengers).
International traffic: 446,485 passengers (+6.2%)
The Schengen area (65% of this traffic) recorded growth of 5.9% (290,369 passengers). Madrid resumed its position as leader in this segment with an increase of 7.2% (27,910 passengers). The destinations that saw the strongest growth were Seville (+86%, 5,997 passengers), Porto (+60.4%, 9,899 passengers) and Palma (+51.5%, 8,688 passengers).
Outside of the Schengen area (+3.6%, 95,320 passengers), traffic to London comes out ahead with an increase of 4.5%, i.e. 64,396 passengers split among four airports which have all experienced renewed growth: London-Gatwick (+2.3%, 23,115 passengers), London-Heathrow (+1.5%, 20,862 passengers), London-Stansted (+8.4%, 16,122 passengers) and London-Luton (+18.8%, 4,297 passengers).
These results make the British capital the second-ranked destination from Toulouse-Blagnac after Paris, all traffic combined. Traffic to North Africa grew (+4.4%), with mixed results for Tunisia (+26.6%, 9,822 passengers), Morocco (+6.3%, 19,091 passengers) and Algeria (-8.9%, 14,057 passengers).
Charter traffic accounted for 2.6% of international traffic, with 11,762 passengers.
FREIGHT AND POSTAL TRAFFIC
Freight and postal traffic is down (-20%) with 5,971 tonnes handled.
COMMERCIAL AIRCRAFT MOVEMENTS
The number of commercial movements is down (-2.1%), with 8,136 movements carried out. Average capacity per aircraft is increasing (115 passengers compared with 109 in September 2017).
