Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has successfully placed its 131st Voice Communication system from Frequentis into operation at NextGEN Metroplex, North Texas without any disruption to normal operation
FREQUENTIS Voice Communications System now fully operational at one of the world’s busiest airports – Dallas Fort Worth (DFW)
The Frequentis DFW ATC system has migrated from installation to operational use in just six months, highlighting the company’s strong working relationship with the FAA and the performance and reliability of their safety-critical communication systems.
The system at DFW provides pilot to controller communication enabling safe air traffic control of 680,000 aircraft movements and supporting 65 million passengers per year. DFW is the fourth-busiest airport in the United States behind Atlanta, Los Angeles and Chicago, and the third largest in the world.
FAA and Frequentis worked in partnership to deliver the DFW system under Frequentis’ Interim Voice Switch Replacement (IVSR) program. The Frequentis system comprises 109 controller working positions installed across the airport’s terminal radar approach control facility (TRACON) and its three ATC towers. Within just six months the DFW ATC system passed FAA formal qualification testing, delivery, installation, and migration to operation.
“Frequentis has worked with the FAA on the IVSR program since 2004, providing an internationally compliant and scalable VCS system and the only source that met the FAA requirements in the desired time frame. We are proud to have supported the FAA in completion of this important ATC project without any interruption to normal services, and ahead of schedule, meeting the demands of the FAA,” says Leonard Swiontek, President of Frequentis USA, Inc.
The company was recently recognized by the Air Traffic Controller Association with their Industry Award 2017. The FAA DFW project was a driving factor in this selection.
At its headquarters in Columbia, Maryland, Frequentis USA, Inc. designs, builds, and integrates communication and information systems for the FAA, NASA, the Department of Defense, and Public Safety organizations.
The company’s FAA and NASA contracts for voice and data systems make Frequentis one of the leading providers of mission-critical voice communications and conferencing systems to the United States government. Frequentis now also provides IVSR to the U.S. Army both domestically and internationally in support of the FAA & US Army’s mission.
Frequentis will be at ATCA in Washington, DC, September 30 – October 3, 2018 at booth 329
