ASD is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr Alessandro Profumo, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Italy-based multinational Leonardo, as President of the AeroSpace and Defence Industries Association of Europe (ASD).
“I’m honored to be appointed to represent the European business community of this sector, from the larger companies to the SMEs and associations which contribute every day to our security, safety and quality of life across Europe and around the world” commented Mr Profumo.
“COVID-19 has challenged the whole western ecosystem, a new asymmetric threat adding to many others - such as cyber terrorism – that we are just learning to grasp. It is evident that we are facing challenging times and I believe that ASD needs more than ever the EU’s full and convinced support to allow its associates to recover, prosper and return to grow in a new environment”.
Mr Profumo also added “working with the new Vice-Chairman of ASD Board Guillaume Faury (CEO of Airbus), we will endeavor to master this new scenario with a proactive approach, and turn these challenges into opportunities".
“ASD is very pleased to welcome Mr. Profumo as our new President. His position as CEO of Leonardo, together with a very extensive experience in the management of several international businesses and organizations, including Chairman of the European Banking Federation in Brussels, will certainly be a very valuable asset to ASD for the years to come", stated ASD Secretary General Jan Pie.
The ASD Board wishes to thank the former President Eric Trappier (President & CEO of Dassault Aviation) for his contribution to the Association during his appointment and for his excellent leadership during the challenging COVID-19 emergency.
