STR-SpeechTech Ltd. (STR) is proud to announce that in partnership with Air Navigation Services Aruba (ANSA), STR will be deploying a GRF compliant StarCaster D-ATIS system in Aruba. The StarCaster D-ATIS system is scheduled for delivery and installation at Queen Beatrix International Airport (TNCA) in December 2021.
ANSA and STR partner to provide D-ATIS GRF Compliance in Aruba
Deployment of the system will complete a successful upgrade of the existing StarCaster D-ATIS infrastructure in Aruba and will be the first ICAO Global Reporting Format (GRF) compliant D-ATIS system deployed in the Caribbean.
The delivery includes GRF functionality that was defined in consideration of all regional aviation stakeholders to ensure the StarCaster D-ATIS system complied with Aruba’s GRF regulatory framework. ANSA’s StarCaster D-ATIS solution provides Air Traffic Control (ATC) personnel with the ability to manually enter and broadcast the Runway Condition Report (RCR) in compliance with all ICAO and Regional GRF requirements for D-ATIS broadcasts.
The supplied StarCaster D-ATIS system consists of a single workstation configuration that will interface directly with the existing weather data source at TNCA to continuously receive the latest weather observations from local weather systems in Aruba. In addition, the system will continue to provide ATC personnel with the ability to generate ATIS messages simultaneously in text form for datalink transmission alongside Voice ATIS broadcasts.
The provision of ATIS messages via datalink (D-ATIS) allows pilots with ACARS equipped aircraft to rapidly retrieve critical flight information prior to initial contact with Air Traffic Control.
