Munich Airport is set to elevate its global connectivity with the launch of its new summer flight schedule on Sunday, March 31, 2024. This year promises an expansion with more departures and a broader range of destinations, making travel from Munich more convenient and exciting than ever before.
Increased Departures and Global Reach
The summer schedule boasts over 3,300 departures per week, marking a significant increase of approximately twelve percent compared to summer 2023. Travelers can choose from 160 destinations worldwide, showcasing Munich Airport’s growing importance as a hub for both European and intercontinental travel.
With 2,400 flights destined for over 100 locations across Europe and the Mediterranean, and an additional 330 flights connecting Munich to 47 intercontinental destinations, the options are vast. This includes 24 destinations in Asia, 19 in North and Central America, and four in Africa. Furthermore, 600 domestic flights to 13 German cities are also part of the robust summer timetable.
New and Exciting Destinations
Airlines at Munich Airport are unveiling a plethora of new and attractive destinations for travelers this summer. Lufthansa is introducing three weekly flights to Seattle and New York’s John F. Kennedy Airport starting in April and June, respectively. In September, Lufthansa will further expand its reach by adding Johannesburg, South Africa, with three weekly flights.
Daily flights to Beijing and Osaka are now available, and starting July, All Nippon Airways will offer daily flights to Tokyo. Lufthansa will also increase its frequency to San Diego, operating five flights weekly during the summer. Vietnam Airlines joins the lineup in October with bi-weekly flights to Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, utilizing the Boeing B787-9 aircraft for these routes.

Airbus A380 enthusiasts will be delighted with Lufthansa’s daily A380 flights to various US destinations, including Boston, New York, Los Angeles, Washington, and Delhi. Emirates is also contributing to the A380 fleet with two daily departures to Dubai. Within Europe, Lufthansa is broadening its horizons by introducing flights to Nantes in France and Trondheim in Norway, along with continuing its services to Oulu in Finland.
Discover, a Lufthansa subsidiary, is stationing five Airbus A320 aircraft in Munich, operating around 70 weekly departures to 23 vacation hotspots primarily in Greece, the Balearic Islands, and the Canary Islands. Other new European connections include Norwegian’s flights to Malaga and Alicante in Spain, Air Montenegro’s service to Podgorica, SkyAlps’ flights to Mostar in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Universal Air’s route to Pecs-Pogány in Hungary.
