Imagine a world where traveling to far-off destinations becomes easier and more accessible. That world is about to become a reality, thanks to Discover Airlines.
Significant Expansion in Munich with Discover Airlines
Starting from March 2025, Discover Airlines will open a long-haul base in Munich and significantly expand its program. Two Airbus A330s will be based in Munich, making Discover Airlines the largest leisure airline at the hub.
Discover Airlines New Direct Connections
For the first time, there will be three weekly direct flights from Munich to Orlando starting from March 3, 2025. From April 1, Namibia’s capital, Windhoek, will also be served three times a week. From April 12, Discover Airlines will offer up to five weekly flights between Munich and the Canadian city of Calgary. These destinations will be served all year round.
A Major Hub
Munich Airport is the leisure airline’s second home base after Frankfurt. All flights will depart from Terminal 2, ensuring a seamless transfer from Lufthansa to Discover Airlines for travelers. By basing a total of seven aircraft and around 400 crew colleagues in Munich and offering around 30 holiday destinations in its flight schedule, Discover Airlines will further consolidate its position as the biggest leisure airline at the hub in the coming year.
Already This Summer: Wide Range of Flights on Short and Medium-Haul Routes
This summer, Discover Airlines offers a wide range of flights on short and medium-haul routes. New destinations that were previously not accessible by direct flights from Munich have been added to Discover Airlines’ flight schedule. These include Marrakesh, the Greek island of Samos, and Varna in Bulgaria. The airline flies most frequently to Ibiza, Mallorca, and the island of Crete. Greece fans can look forward to the largest variety: with a total of eleven destinations and around 30 weekly flights, the range of destinations is more diverse than ever.
“The expansion of our operations in Munich is an important milestone for us,” explains Bernd Bauer, CEO of Discover Airlines. “With this step, we are consistently focusing on our goal of expanding Lufthansa’s offering at the two major German hubs with versatile, attractive holiday options offering travelers even more choice. With our three new long-haul destinations we are doing just that as they have never been accessible by direct flight from Munich before or were last accessible many years ago. Our increased activities are a clear commitment by the Lufthansa Group to Munich as location for the air transport industry as well as to the entire region.”
“With the new long-haul leisure routes, Discover Airlines is adding highly attractive intercontinental destinations to the route portfolio at Munich Airport. The leisure carrier is one of the largest airlines based at Munich Airport and – as a combination of tourist and hub carrier – fits perfectly into the Lufthansa Group network,” explains Jost Lammers, Chairman of the Management Board of Munich Airport.
