Frankfurt Airport’s upcoming Terminal 3 is set to redefine the travel experience with a wide array of dining and retail options designed to cater to the diverse tastes and needs of its international passengers. Following an extensive selection process, two renowned travel retailers, Avolta and Lagardère Travel Retail, have been chosen to manage the food and beverage outlets in the terminal. Their innovative approaches and commitment to quality promise to create a vibrant atmosphere for travelers.
Partners with a Vision
Avolta and Lagardère Travel Retail bring their expertise and creativity to Terminal 3, each managing a substantial portion of the 2,900-square-meter dining space. Avolta will oversee twelve outlets across key areas, including the Non-Schengen Central Marketplace, Schengen Pier, and Departures Hall. Lagardère, on the other hand, will operate ten spaces in the Non-Schengen Marketplace and Pier, as well as in the Arrivals Hall, along with six additional outlets catering to travelers’ varied needs.
Anke Giesen, Executive Director for Retail and Real Estate at Fraport AG, expressed her enthusiasm: “We are very pleased to welcome Avolta and Lagardère Travel Retail as our partners in the new dining areas of Terminal 3. Both companies display an impressive innovative spirit and strict quality standards and will greatly enrich the food and beverage options at Frankfurt Airport.”
A Culinary Journey Awaits
The new terminal’s dining options will offer something for everyone, from international cuisine to regional specialties. Travelers can look forward to German bakeries, chic Italian restaurants, high-end bars featuring tapas and sushi, and snack shops for a quick bite on the go. Two expansive food courts and a central bar located in the marketplace—the architectural centerpiece of Terminal 3—promise to deliver memorable culinary experiences.
This curated mix of offerings aims to meet the expectations of passengers from around the globe, ensuring they enjoy a taste of both local flavors and global trends. With a focus on quality and variety, the dining spaces reflect Frankfurt Airport’s commitment to excellence and innovation.
Retail Spaces That Impress
In addition to the dining areas, Terminal 3 will feature 65 retail spaces spanning approximately 12,000 square meters. These include duty-free shops, boutiques, and service outlets such as currency exchange and car rentals. The expansive duty-free shops in the Non-Schengen area stand out with their broad selection of luxury and everyday items.
“We are expecting many international guests in Terminal 3 and have designed the new terminal to meet their needs and provide them an incredible experience. Our retail areas are exceptional in their diversity and quality and have been created to make the guest experience in our new terminal one to remember,” Giesen added.
Designed for an Unparalleled Passenger Experience
Terminal 3 has been carefully planned to embody Frankfurt Airport’s core values of service, quality, innovation, partnership, and commitment. The terminal’s marketplace, with its unique ceiling design, will serve as a focal point for passengers, offering a seamless blend of dining and shopping opportunities. Each element of the terminal’s design and operation has been crafted to enhance the overall travel experience.
Scheduled to open in the summer of 2026, the first phase of Terminal 3 will accommodate up to 19 million passengers annually. This ambitious project not only reflects Frankfurt Airport’s commitment to meeting the evolving needs of travelers but also highlights its dedication to sustainability and forward-thinking infrastructure development.
The Final Countdown
With the dining spaces now fully allocated and the marketing of retail and service areas nearing completion, Terminal 3 is well on its way to becoming a world-class hub for international travelers. As construction progresses, anticipation builds for the unveiling of this state-of-the-art facility.
