The European Commission presented its Action Plan on Synergies between civil, defence and space industries to further enhance Europe's technological edge and support its industrial base.

The AeroSpace and Defence Industries Association of Europe (ASD) welcomes the Action Plan and its main goals to enhance the complementarity between relevant EU programmes and instruments, to promote that EU funding for research and development – especially for defence and space  – benefits European citizens and to facilitate the use of civil research and innovation in European defence projects.

The European Aerospace and Defence Industry stands ready as a competent and reliable partner to contribute to the successful realisation of the actions announced in the Action Plan. As ASD’s members are active in all three industries covered by the Action Plan, we invite the Commission to draw on the technical and practical expertise of our members for its implementation.

ASD Secretary General Mr Jan Pie stated that: “We consider this Action Plan as an important step forward to strengthen European technological sovereignty and Europe’s industrial base. Fostering synergies across the defence, space and civil sectors is an excellent means to better exploit the potential of new technologies, to increase the positive impact of EU programmes and to maximise the benefit of research, development and innovation for European citizens.”
