BARIG (Board of Airline Representatives in Germany) is delighted to announce Düsseldorf Airport as its newest partner, marking a significant collaboration aimed at enhancing operational processes within the aviation sector.
BARIG and Düsseldorf Airport Forge Partnership for Enhanced Aviation Processes and UEFA Euro 2024 Preparations
The partnership underscores a commitment to fostering a robust and efficient air travel environment, with both BARIG and Düsseldorf Airport engaging in an intensive exchange of ideas and expertise. As they join forces, the focus will extend beyond routine collaboration, as the entities jointly prepare for the prestigious UEFA European Football Championship 2024 scheduled to take place in Germany. This strategic alignment reflects their dedication to ensuring seamless travel experiences for passengers and optimizing logistical aspects in anticipation of the high-profile sporting event. BARIG and Düsseldorf Airport’s partnership exemplifies the collaborative spirit essential for advancing the aviation industry, emphasizing a shared commitment to excellence and innovation in preparation for significant milestones on the horizon.
In this context, the consortium of airlines operating in Germany extends a warm welcome to Düsseldorf Airport as its latest partner. Following Munich and Stuttgart, Düsseldorf now joins the ranks of airports within BARIG’s collaborative network.
“Air traffic can only perform well if infrastructure and processes are constantly optimized. Airport operations in particular play an essential role in this regard,” Michael Hoppe, BARIG Chairman and Executive Director, states. “There are many complex interfaces between airport operators and airlines where other players are involved as well, for example in ground operations, aviation security, or sustainability. A good, constructive exchange can contribute to further improvements here, and passengers as well as air cargo customers will benefit from this.”
During the latest BARIG Full Board meeting held in Frankfurt am Main on December 13, 2023, delegates from Düsseldorf Airport engaged in discussions with airline representatives, focusing on preparations for the upcoming year. The deliberations specifically addressed the planning and coordination required for significant events scheduled in 2024.
“After a strong operational performance during the peak season in 2023, where we had significantly fewer delays and minimal waiting times for passengers, we are now starting to plan for the future. From June 14 to July 14, 2024, the UEFA European Football Championship will take place in Germany. This will likely lead to a considerable increase in demand for flights,” Dr. Henning Pfisterer, Senior Vice President Aviation and Accountable Manager at Düsseldorf Airport, reports. “We are preparing intensively for this event and for the entire travel season while also involving our airline partners. The cooperation with BARIG offers us an excellent platform for this.”
As the largest airport in the highly populous federal state of North Rhine-Westphalia, Düsseldorf Airport stands among the four largest commercial airports in Germany. Presently, 59 airlines offer flight services to the state capital, and in the year 2022, the airport documented a passenger count exceeding 16 million.
